At Canadian Island we know kids learn the most when they feel safe, happy and secure – and our international camps are built on this simple philosophy. Our camps create a friendly, relaxed and informal learning environment for children that is able to motivate them to learn and communicate in English.
The camps are run during June and July from 8am to 5pm, giving you plenty of time to join in the fun. Parents can expect a 1:6 staff to student ratio.
Activities beginning in September 2019
In September, let your children start school with an extra gear with the school immersion courses in English!
Life at camp
No time to get bored
English | Italian Lesson
An hour each day is dedicated to English or Italian lessons, with campers grouped into age and level appropriate classes. Qualified teachers guide kids through a set curriculum that includes the use of songs, interactive games, role-playing and conversation.
Sport and Outdoor Activities
Sports and outdoor activities are a fun and dynamic way to learn a language, which is why we try to expose our students to as many new games as possible.
• Horseback riding
• Tibetan bridge
• Ropes course
Pool And Water Activities
Italian summers can be hot and the perfect place to cool off is in our dedicated camp pool and water activity area.
• Slip and slide
Canadian Island wants kids to express their artistic side. Using a mix of recycled and professional art materials, we will help your child unlock their creativity in new and imaginative ways.
• Costume making
• Set design
• Recycled art
Music And Drama Workshops
Music and movement are an important part of our camps. Popular songs like Great Big Moose and Once I Met An Alien make learning English fun, but the real action happens when kids start to make their own music.
• Camp songs
• Theater basics
Camp is full of surprises and so that each child walks away with a smile on their face, we put on special events that are just for kids.
• Talent shows
• Bake off
• Human board games
• Activities based on the theme of the week
We give great importance to food and cater to campers with a wide variety of dietary requirements.
Italy is known for its slow food movement that encourages people of all ages to pay closer attention to what goes on their plate and in their body. At Canadian Island, we have embraced this food philosophy and place great emphasis on the quality of food served at camp in terms of nutritional value and variety in order to meet the needs of our campers.
We have created a tasty, nutritious and wholesome meal plan made from local organic produce and we cater to campers with dairy, nut, wheat, soy, egg and fish allergies. Celiac campers thrive on our gluten free foods while vegetarians and vegans are amazed at the variety of food options we offer.
Drinking water regularly is another Canadian Island camp initiative and we encourage campers to use the bottled water coolers that can be found all around camp.
